Dr. Matthew Abel joined Candlewood Valley Pediatrics in 2001. Originally from Yorktown Heights, NY, he is a 1993 Alumnus of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, where he earned a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Abel also received his M.A. in Biomedical Education from Touro College in Dix Hills, NY, in 1994. He completed his medical degree in 1998 from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Faculty of Medicine, in Haifa, Israel. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Abel finished his pediatric residency in 2001 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is on staff at Nuvance Health (formerly known as Western Connecticut Health network) and Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford. He enjoys all aspects of pediatrics, especially cardiology and infectious diseases.
Dr. Abel lives in New Milford with his wife and two children. When not seeing patients in the office, he enjoys Broadway shows with his family and can be found running obstacle-course races (such as Spartan Races) and slicing a drive on any golf course.
